Fate and What-ifs. Everything happens for a reason, ain't it?

I was looking at the now-turned 1000 friends in my Facebook friends list and decided to delete a few in case I have added any random people whom I have never encountered before in my life. Kinda failed to delete any, although I'm not close to most of them, but I do had my encounters with them before. A thought hit me: at this point of our life, do we actually met more than 1000 people already?

I'm turning 19 this week, probably at the approximate one quarter of a human's life already (Unless the bull 2012 came true according to the Mayan's calender). To think we have met this many people at this point of our life, do they mean anything? Did all of them, or rather to be more fair, most of them actually affected your life? Even if it's a little bit?

I know this post is kinda pointless. I'm just wondering about the amount of people we have met at this time of our life. Still, it's not the quantity that matters, it's how these people affect you and impact your life in any way possible, no matter how small it is, or how short the moments you all have had together... it's still fate. So, out of the 1001 friends I have browsed through just now, many are just hi-bye friends; but I guess it's fate working its magic for getting to know those awesome people, no matter how insignificant I am to them, or how they are to me seeing we never really get to know each other before.

They are still friends whom I met and been through some experiences together. Short encounters but still meaningful. Some even taught me valuable lessons in life. Ern Sheong, for one, I never really know him, but he's one person I respected 5 years ago and still do now. My last conversation with him was 2 years ago when he came back from Singapore I think. Gave me a few insight and encouragement on my SPM. Doubt he remembers me now though.

Oh. And this friend of mine during my Standard 1's orientation, I couldn't remember his name and kinda lost contact with him since 1997. But, I suspect that he is my current basketball friend. No idea. But, back then, he taught me how to find fun in every little things despite our young age.

And having reading as a hobby? Thanks to a classmate back in Standard 1. Name is Wei Zhe. He introduced Enid Blyton to me. The very book that got me hooked was The Magic Snowbird and Other Stories. Call me crazy, but yes, I do remember the title. He was Si Jin's best friend haha. Heard that he changed. A brief one year of friendship in 1997, but it did me good.

Primary school years went passed pretty quickly. People like Wei Zhen, Ann, and Alvin kinda were the ones who are always with me throughout my primary school life. Good thing we still keep in touch :)

High school was a drastic change. People grew up and most people became quite superficial. Was a hard time for me in the first few years. However, Emily and Xinhui were the ones who got me hooked to basketball. Gene-Harn got me into running. Ching Fay is always there to motivate me in my studies. Wan Ee, Charis, Ming Kiet and Vi Iyin are the ones who created the craziness in me till today. Yong Zhi may be harsh on me sometimes, but he taught me important lessons in life as well. Many more people who touched my life in that 5 years of high school...

Sometimes I linger on the what-ifs, I mean, what if I was still stucked with her? I may never be involved in sports. I may never be addicted to basketball. I may be in Science stream to be with her. I may not be in the sports team. I may not have met so many awesome friends. May not even be in 4 and 5 Meranti. Even if she, being the one who made me give up on the idea of best friends, she taught me well too. She's the reason for most of my changes anyway. I thank her ultimately for those changes. I think it's all fated.

HMC was another phase as well.

What if I went along with my initial plan on entering Sunway's March intake SAM and proceed to the businss course in Monash this year? My whole life phase will be different too. HMC memories will not even exist. I may get to know certain people from HELP UC eventually, but things won't be the same.

HMC... Good times are always short. People come and go. And I got to meet many new friends in that one year of foundation life. May not be in touch with them already. But, one person who really affected me is Victoria. Debra for another. Connie as well, I miss that girl =/ Raymond too. Alric, Li Foong, Jess, Louis, Jin Ken, Teng Wei, Victor, Misel, Qinmei, JiaHuey and many others la. They don't know. I never tell. But they do impacted my life in a way. HMC was so, so brief.

And what if I never wanted to work? I know Jia's life will be different. Things happened for a reason! I may never get to meet awesome people like KZ, Sean, Shaun, Bryan, Izah, Zila, Sammie, Wai Siong, Ryan, Ray, James, Pei Yee, Alfred, Thadeous and even Mr. James. I learned so much. And life at E-Books as well... Boring as it may be, it was surprising to know about stories behind a bookstore and the people in it.

First sem of uni life stepped in, wasn't really into it. Kept turning to my HMC friends. Thanks to them I survived. However, it didn't last long. They have to move on as well. Li Foong wasn't there for me too in my 2nd semester of uni. I had to face the semester by getting along with my classmates. Wasn't too hard, they are still human, despite the different culture and mindsets. They can be quite interesting. At certain times when I was discussing about certain subjects with them, I find myself smiling... Who knew horror stories can bring 8 people, each came from a different location (Vietnam, Korea, China, Indonesia, South Africa, Malaysia (Sarawak), Malaysia (Penang), and me la KL), to be seated in a circle, laughing and gasping at each other's tale?

Guess my choice of course just got my network internationalised. Fate? I mean, what if I never chose this course and went into HUC instead, which I won't la. You know, just a thought.

As I always say, everything happens for a reason, I guess.

And thanks to blogging and twitter, I met awesome friends as well. Zhao (whom I met before 4 years ago in basketball), Mynjayz, Caren, Jeremy Choy, Chia Wei and Bernard (Dunno who else I left off but oh well). But ultimately, getting involved in all these, I have to thank Louis la. If he didn't told me to just join the Star Trek contest, I wouldn't have got hooked to all these. And yea, it's a chain reaction, what if I never met Louis if I didn't join HMC in the first place, I wouldn't met those awesome bloggers. But even if I did join HMC, JiaHuey was the one who introduced him to me... what if I went to Cathelic High instead of DJ? I wouldn't have met JiaHuey. But, perhaps we might eventually got to know each other, I guess?

Okay. I'm thinking too much now. Shrugs. It's 4.30am already...

Been long since I blog in such way. Was blogging like this, in a wordy sense, in my other personal blog. But I don't really care now. Heck with movie reviews... Yinnie doesn't like them I know. I don't really like writing them too sometimes. Haha. But to be honest, it DOES attracts hits! xD However, some movies really don't deserve to be reviewed even. I mean, why write about a movie you don't appreciate?

Just wondering, am I the only one who does all these thinking about fate and friendship? Hmmm. At least I know Wan Ee does too sometimes heh. Can trust it on her to think so much. Guess being her close friend back in high school got some effect on myself as well. Jees.

End of October

October 20 2009 (Tuesday)
Was a very very very good day! :D Started off badly though since I had to get up super early for my 8am Accounts class. Reached college like 7am and proceed to DSA to get a bit of shut-eye. Kinda overslept till 8.30am and rushed to get my breakfast before entering class -_-"

Yadda yadda yadda... Class. Break... Snore.

Checked Twitter, guess what? I won an iPod Shuffle from @discoveryweek! :DDD According to them, there was a technical error, so I got chosen to be the 3rd winner from that contest... Truth is, I kinda forgot that I actually joined it since I didn't thought I stand any chance to win. Lucky lucky x)

Contacted Jason Lam and made appointment to meet at The Curve since I will be there that night to catch the Inglourious Basterds movie premiere with Aaron Cheah.

So anyway, rushed back home after basketball training to get ready for movie and collection of my prize. Glee glee x) Went to purchase Aaron's new PS3 blu-ray game after collecting tickets. It was free seating, so yea. And I also won 2 Inglourious Basterds limited tees xD Gave one to Aaron.

Met up with Jason Lam at MacCity and got my iPod Shuffle! :D Aaron said green is sexy. I think so too. Fits the name Apple well =)

DSC03259DSC03240

Sooooooooo pwetty!! To think I was gonna buy the exact same model in November as my birthday treat... seems that I don't have to anymore. Thanks DiscoveryWeek and Jason :)

Anyway, movie was awesome. I find it amusing and a tad bit violent... Aaron didn't like it though. But he's an exception, he likes chick flicks. Hahah. Click here for the review I did on Inglourious Basterds :)

October 23 2009 (Friday)
Loooooong day. Taekwondo after class. And supposed to stay back to go for an Orphanage visit with my course mates as our student council event. Was super sweaty but my Vietnamese friend, Kat, who stays in the hostel, is ever soooooo nice to lend me her bathroom... and she even let me dump my stuffs in her room so I wouldn't have to lug it around during the visit :D

Anyway, I will do another separate blog entry about the visit.

There was a slight delay on transportation back to college, shrugs. Had to take the bus and LRT back home since Dad couldn't make it after 6pm. And worse, it was raining... Was sms-ing Aaron and he said he will pick me up from the KJ LRT terminal so I wouldn't need to walk home in the dark + rain. How nice :) THANKS Aaron! Awesome friend he is.

October 24 2009 (Saturday)
Went to Klang with Mum for my dental appointment. After that, we got our new curtain design picked for tailor-making.

Visited aunt after that since we still had time. Jalan-jalan around and I least expect myself to be buying a pair of shades that day... Anyway, I did. Got my ZeroX shades!!!!! Awesome no? There's discount too :D

October 25 2009 (Sunday)
Went over to The Curve with Boon Yen, Jack, Lucas and Yinnie. Funny moments.

Our main mission that day was to shop for MJ shirt. The other side of The Street bazaar was closed due to some renovation... pfft. Was disappointed and strayed around The Curve while waiting for Jia Ping to join us for lunch at KFC. He was super late... wasted our time checking out the cars exhibition.

DSC03381

Jia Ping seriously took a looooong time and I kept going "where's Jia Pinggg?", so Yinnie went up to the electronic directory...

DSC03378DSC03377

Yeap. We were searching for jia ping

Jia Ping left after lunch but Lucas came shortly after. Stopped by Ikano and damn, are we lucky or what? We found MJ shirts!!!!! :D I'm so gonna wear it when I watch Michael Jackson's This Is It.

2 rounds of pool, Yinnie took damn lot of photos then, but I lazy to upload laaaaaa. Malas malas. Camwhore session after pool, photos are with me :D

DSC03393DSC03396

We ain't your typical camwhore-rs xD

Dinner time! And it was raining quite heavily... the guys didn't want to take the longer route upstairs to cross from Cineleisure to The Curve. So, we had to run all the way to the other side. While heading half way for shelter, Jack stopped and blocked all of us just because he passed by 2 flag poles... he HAD to stop and sing "Negaraku....."

zzzzzzzzzz. Fail.

Went to Ikea cafe for dinner. Queue was extremely loooooong, but who cares? It's meatballs!!!

DiGiMusicLive Presents All-American Rejects

To be veryyyy honest, this is actually my first kick-ass concert experience ever! xD And I meant it literally too, I got kicked in the ass while squeezing through the crowd when, according to Andrew Kasimir, a real mosh pit occured. Shrugs. Shall talk about that later...

Anyway, thanks to Aaron for fetching me over to Bukit Jalil :D He's such a pessimist. Audrey, his little sister and I had to taunt him about being negative throughout the journey. Reached Bukit Jalil around 5pm. And DAMN! It was gawddamn crowded! The queue was freaking looooooooooooooooooooooong!

3 of us, meaning me, Aaron and Audrey, got separated upon arriving at the carpark -_-"

311020091367

Bloody looooooooong queue, and this is just 1/3 of the queue. But, knowing people helps... heheheh, got to stand at that spot instead of going to the end. However, it doesn't matter anyway... not long after we queued up, suddenly there were people being excited and the whole queue just vanished, replaced by some messy crowd, crowding the entrance... I was being squashed like mad in the middle of the crowd and was separated with Miew Ling and Kajeng. Shrugs. And Maxis line ain't working well at that area...

Jason called and told me to get out of the crowd, for some unknown reasons. Jason Ong damn weird lor. Dunno what he planned also. No plan also ask me go out, he got VIP ticket ni ma. (blablabla, I know he reads xD Purposely bully wan) Anyway, I stood outside of the crowd, stoning at those wild people... zzz. Met up with Chuu Khai, Aaron and Rachel outside of the crazy crowd. CAMWHORE! xD

311020091370

Saw Clement, Bryan, Junn and Fawn outside the "queue" too.

Chit-chatted awhile until 6pm when they start to let people in. 4 of us tried to sneak into the front line of the queue. Chuu and I managed, while Aaron and Rachel failed to push their way in... Awwww. Got quite front standing location, just need a few push and we will be right up front! Summore I'm sure we will be able to push our way through if we tried, seeing we know how to use elbow technique from basketball... kekeke. Okay, that's mean. And being civilised, we didn't.

311020091376

It drizzled awhile while more people came crowding in, till a certain point when everyone got squashed like sardines in a can. I couldn't even move my arms! And there's one fucker standing in front of me kept nodding his head when there ain't any music yet! Stupid, I was soooooo tempted to push his head down. And there's another fatass beside me who has a terrible terrible body odour. Oh Lord! Plus, he kept playing with his DiGi clappers with his arms held high... Not only he's not tall enough to avoid hitting me with the clappers, his armpits... zzz. BO okay! Not funny!

311020091377

One hell of experience... bad luck. Plus, the wait was crazyyyyyy! Bloody pissed. And I couldn't connect to the internet since there ain't any wifi anyway. Waited and waited and waited. Stupid Malaysians, they kept cheering to the same videos which kept replaying like 93974382948 times. And each time, they still cheer. WTF?! I'm okay with it actually, just that everytime they cheer, that BO guy cheered too...... and I suffer -_-"

One thing I really dislike about the audience, when scenes of the local celebrities were shown on screen, they boo-ed. Like, what's wrong with those people seriously? No manners. Gosh. Don't so mean la...

Emcees were a funny bunch. Shrugs. They were asking if we were having a good time... Many said NOOOOOOOO, but they went on saying that they were having a great time! Personally I think they should stop asking that question to concert-goers next time, cause free standing is confirmed not a good time. What we want is music music music, not listening to so much of talking. My theory is that everytime you watch a concert when the person on the stage asked "ARE YOU GUYS HAVING A GOOD TIME?????" to a crazy crowd in a free standing concert, you hear ()#&@*^#*(@&*@( which basically sounded like "WOAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"... HAH! That's where you got it wrong, it sounded so manipulative that it made more people wanna go for a live concert eh? People were actually screaming "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" which came out wrongly when voices combined. Oh well...

Okay. Out came the local bands. Disagree was awesome! I like them as a local band cause they got talent. Well, personal taste la ok, I like them better than Pop Shuvit. One Buck Short can be on the same grade as Disagree too. Like their songs :) Very nice. Pop Shuvit is cool too, just not my kind =/

And the KLDC was awesome with the drums while complementing Disagree's Scarecrow Adams. Nicely done :D

311020091394311020091401

Was enjoying the music when suddenly people from the back came pushing until the force spreaded to the front. Gah. Almost fell. Was pushed to the left and right. Shrugs. Bloody fuck. Plenty of curses. Annoying people. One girl fell/ fainted, not sure, but her boyfriend piggyback her out from the crowd... so sweeeet :)

Was freaking annoyed with that sudden "mosh pit" according to Andrew. He said he was one of them. Yeesh! I kill you!

Couldn't stand the odour and heat and being crammed much longer, so I dragged Chuu to the back to find Yinnie, Zhi, Kim and whoever who will be with them. Fought the crowd and heard my name, there they were, with Suan Kim and his deejay friend, Tommy. Joined them. Ahhhhhh, fresh air and breeze! And they got drinks! Love all of you :) Plus good company, eventhough I didn't get a nice view after Disagree, I didn't mind much... seeing I have friends as company anyway.

This is how far we went behind. Look at the crowd in front of us...

311020091407

BUT! We weren't THAT far behind too! Look at the crowd BEHIND of us!

311020091408

Jees-sus!

Anywhoooo, we waited for approximately 45 minutes after the last performance for All-American Rejects to come on stage. Imagine if I was still stucked in the front crowd... Boredom and annoyance! At the back got space to sit summore xD

And people to camwhore with :D

311020091412311020091418

Gah! I look disgusting... So sweaty and sticky. Eeeeeee.

And finally AAR came out... greeted by screams and cheers. I was one that went crazy as well, started jumping with my injured ankle... now it hurts. Pfft. As in NOW, while typing this whole entry out. And to think the concert was like 2 days ago...

311020091438

Tyson in a little red indian getup for Halloween :D

Me and Zhi were so excited that we kept dragging Yinnie and Kim and Chuu from the back and nearer and nearer to the front. Zzz. We were even front than where I was standing during the beginning of the concert! Crazy people we are, we unleash madness when we need to xD

Anyway, Tyson is so awesome I tell you. He's funny and I like his accent. AAR didn't disappoint us, they gave us a good performance. From Move Along to Fallin' Apart and Damn Girl and Swing Swing, I Wanna, Real World, Dirty Little Secret, blablablablabla a few more songs I forgot, and of course, they saved the best for last. BAGI ENGKAU NERAKA! Well, they did give us hell! A hell of a performance indeed. I did recorded a few videos but phone prob, shrugs.

But oh well, nothing better than being there live eh? So videos are just made for memories... go Youtube and search la. By the way, Ee May's friend got one of the drumsticks being thrown to the crowd by the drummer of One Buck Short! Shooooo Nice! :)

Tyson was throwing his towel and guitar picks to the crowd too after his performance, but we were still not close enough! Pfft!

So, that's that for AAR concert 2009 in Bukit Jalil :)

PTPTN Loan conversion to Scholarship!

Even this is saved as a draft! Jees! I'm getting awfully lazy. Should stop procrastinating much!

Okay, I guess most of you caught the Budget 2010 on TV. Good to know there's no tax increase. However, one thing that really caught my attention was the conversion of PTPTN loan to scholarship... IF you get a first-class honours in your degree! Super awesome, no?

2010 BUDGET HIGHLIGHTS
on 23rd october 2009

12. Converting the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) loans to scholarships for students who graduate with first class honours degrees or equivalent beginning 2010.

Jees. First class honours is tough work. Seeing that in my course's history, only 8 out of dunno how many students got a first class. 8 ONLY! Shrugs.

Sigh. I have to start bucking up! To think that assignments' due date is like 2 weeks from now and I haven't start doing anything yet! Gawd! What's wrong with me?! I have to maintain my first class that I got in my first semester and get scholarship for next year's course fees. And keep it up to 3rd year and get first class honours to get that PTPTN loan conversion to a full scholarship!

Hard work =( But UEL should be okay, since it has looooooooong term break in between. So, it's like you suffer for a few months and get back a few months of relaxation. However, bad thing is, after like 3 months of semester break, I tend to get lazy... See, like now lor! Shrugs.

HAVE TO START LA! DAMMIT! *slaps self*

THIS IS IT!

Yes, it was supposed to be it... but, it never came to be.

Michael Jackson's This Is It gave us a clear insight of a supposedly awesome mind-blowing concert, which sadly, didn't happen due to the tragic pass of the King of Pop.

I'm going to speak about this documentary movie according to my own experience and feelings, it won't be applicable to you, but this is what the movie is to me...

I've got an awesome seat located in the middle of the hall. It's like the perfect intersection point of the horizontal and vertical line which goes across the middle of the hall. Perfect view, perfect sound unlike what you get while sitting at the side. Refused to change to another row to sit with the rest, call me an egoist, I don't care. I just want the best experience I can get for this movie.

I guess I wasn't expecting MJ to be as healthy as he was, I didn't expect him to be as good as he used to be as well. How wrong I was to be thinking like that. MJ is still as hyper as he was, he danced all his signature dance moves as well as I remember he used to be, and he still sang all the songs exactly like how they were in his music videos.

Scenes of each performance showed how thrilling MJ wanted this concert to be, I could even imagine how the concert will be like if it ever happen. He was really particular with little little things, like how one note can make a difference, how he wanted a closing of that particular song to be like, how explosive he wanted the dance to be... He wanted a perfect concert since it was supposed to be his last, he wanted to give his fans the best one they ever experienced. He and his team worked so hard, so very hard, it's so touching.

What I respect the most of MJ is his working attitude, he was humble as how the others used to described him and he gets his message and wants across in a very polite manner. And he kept saying "God Bless You" everytime. So adorable and sweet. It is very obvious that all the performers and background singers, technicians and stage managers, pianists, guitarists, drummers, ALL of the people involved in the making of This Is It like him alot.

Sigh. He left too early =/

I hate to admit, but I did cried throughout the movie. Especially when Caren told me "hey, your song!" when Earth Song came out. I felt my heart racing when he started to sing it. It is my favourite song among the rest, even my karaoke buddies got addicted to it after I introduced it to them. Ahem, Jia Ping and Boon Yen and Jack and Lucas all :) It was awesome la seriously. So awesome.

I was trembling and shaking so badly, wanted to stand up and sing along, the scenes just give you this impact. Seriously. I wanted to scream AHHHHHHHHHHHHH UHHHHHHHHHHHH with him. Even though I'm not good at it as Boon Yen and Jia Ping does the screaming part better, but still! It was awesome! It was so bloody awesome! Sigh.

I stayed back until the end of the credits. I won't rate this movie as I don't think it should be rated seeing that what's inside is real; however, they did a good job compiling all the scenes together. But if I were to rate it, it will exceed 10/10. Emotions played a part in it. So yes, This Is It! The one documentary movie you should not miss.

MJ will never die in us! He is still alive!!!

SPCA Visit : A DOME SC Event

After weeks of planning and 1 whole busy week of organizing and going around collecting donations for our Department of Economics and Management Student Council 2009/10 first ever charity visits to SPCA and Orphanage, our hard work has finally paid off with the success of the SPCA visit :D

DSC00889

October 10 2009 (Saturday)
The day has finally arrived for the SPCA visit! Participants from the department gathered at the HELP Main Block's bus stop at 9am for our transport to SPCA. Transport was provided by DSA, many thanks to them :)

Though there was a little miscommunication and delay with the transport, everything went just fine after that. Haha. The journey took us less than 20 minutes, and soon enough, we reached our destination.

DSC03162

When all 20 participants reached and gathered, we went into the animal shelter and were greeted by one of the staffs from SPCA. Despite all the work, she is one friendly and bubbly young lady :D

We were then combined with a few representatives from Taylor's and INTi College who happened to be volunteering on the same day as well.

Started off with a short briefing and tour around the shelter. Heard that currently, there's approximately 500 animals in the shelter...

DSC00910DSCF4197
Kat holding a kitten. Extremely adorable, I think that little kitty got adopted on that day of our visit itself :D

Not forgetting the men's best friends, the dogs! And also women's best friends (okay, maybe not, but at least they are MY best friends), PUPPIES!!

DSC00950
This is one of the giant species, EXTREMELY huge I tell you! I can't remember its name but it's quite intelligent... We were told that it was separated from its owner and has been in the shelter for about a week already... However, no one came around to claim him/her yet :(

s
This one is absolutely adorable! Is a she! Apparently she LOVES visitors. Especially students like us. Everytime there's a visit, she will run out and greet each and every one of the visitors.

I wonder why she hasn't been adopted yet =/

t
Hahahaha. Cute pic of the DOME SC members with puppies :D

Not forgetting the awesome peeps who came along to support this visit organized by our council!

h
Year 3 seniors :)

After getting to know the place (including where the toilets are located -_-"), we helped around by preparing the meals for the animals in the shelter and also bathing them. I think all of us had fun playing with the animals... especially our beloved DOME Student Council president, Renaldo. Hahah.

DSC00959
e

Oh. And if you happened to be afraid of animals, don't fret! You are still able to help out! There are 2 of our visit participants who happen to be terrified of dogs... and cats. They played their part in helping by being in charge of the souvenirs store and doing paperwork.

DSCF4198

DSCF4211
Seems like both our DOME SC's treasurer, Chido and our Sports Director, Farah still had their share of fun working away from the animals. Lol.

After feeding and bathing the dogs in the 2nd shelter, we were invited to a small presentation about SPCA. We were informed about how the society treats the dogs and cats badly and how insufficient space there is in SPCA. Pictures of dogs and cats which suffered from irresponsible owners who mistreat them like putting 5 grown dogs into a small cage, beating a dog out until it went blind, leaving a cat starved until it's weak and ain't capable to move which led to maggots eating its body alive, chaining a dog so tight until it almost suffocates the dog and scarred its neck as well etc. etc.

The photos were dreadful and made us wonder why would anyone wants to have a pet but didn't have the responsibility to provide care and love for them. The thought made us feel shameful towards our own species.

a

It was a really interesting and educational presentation as it actually worked as a wake-up call for all of us to start being aware of all these animal abuse happening around us.

It was around 2pm when we said our goodbyes. Everyone was extremely exhausted; however, it was a good feeling to know that we had done a good deed that day. This SPCA visit is quite an experience as well.

Of course, photo taking sessions cannot be skipped before we take leave! xD

Putrajaya Half-Ironman 2009 and an unexpected expedition

Woah. This entry's like 2 weeks late! Procrastination got the better of me :/

Date: 4th October 2009 (Sunday)
Time: 6am - 10pm
Venue: All around Putrajaya
People: Khai Sim, Yin Yee, Boon Yen, Jack Ng, Wen Hong

Initial mission: To help out as volunteers for the Putrajaya Half-Ironman 2009 event.

Woke up super early to leave for Kelana Jaya LRT station with Yin Yee, thanks Dad for the lift. Met up with Wen Hong and Jack there while found out Yen just woke up zzz. He rushed to the station in 5 minutes with, of all things, a windbreaker! Zzz. Had to help him carry his windbreaker throughout the journey since I'm the only one with a big enough back pack. Gah. Luckily I like him enough as a friend, pfft.

Board the train... Were all extremely sleepy, so some of got a bit of shut-eye, while the rest just stoned.

DSC02919

Reached Pasar Seni and went to 7-Eleven for a quick breakfast before getting on the bus to the Putrajaya Sentral. Jack and I went to a few stalls to get small change since the rest have only bigger notes. Got on the stupid bus which cost us RM3.80. Ride was fucking looooooong too. Expected to be late for the event already. Finally reached Putrajaya Sentral, had to switch bus to the Pullman Hotel. The driver seems to be having fun to drive around for 30 minutes of sightseeing, I was too tired to bother already since we were already late anyway. I felt super sorry for getting my other 4 friends involved in this stupid "trip".

Reached Pullman Hotel, FINALLY! Was super lost. Kept calling Mr Jaswant and Mr something (can't remember his name, but he's the volunteer manager who apparently is the emcee for the event that day too).

DSC02921

DSC02926

Was stoning around when I caught sight of the event manager and went up to him, he kinda like beh song me and referred me to Kak Siti who asked us to help ourselves with breakfast... What breakfast? None left for us already... zzz. So, we continue to stone around. Then I got annoyed and went up to the tent and stood with Kak Siti and the rest, saw Suhan there (one of the volunteers who went for the meeting). Stood near the tent to watch the participants finished their swim and continue their bike race. Effing Ironman and women!!! I want their staminaaaaa!

DSC02929

Got almost shoo-ed away by this aunty who apparently is a volunteer too. Met her before in the meeting as well, I'm being frank, but I didn't like her even since the meeting. I know I may offend that woman since organisers may read blogs cause I guess that's what I will do if I were to be an officer for an event or an employer of a company. Take Italiannies for instance... There, I typed their company's name, google is powerful k. But, it's my personal feelings towards that aunty herself.

Anyway, I digress! Luckily Suhan explained to her that I'm one of the volunteers too :) I like Suhan. He's nice! Apparently he's like only 20 (if I'm not wrong) and is currently studying in INTi.

Blablabla. We finally got our jobs as volunteers. Taking care of the rest tents for the participants. Not like there's plenty to do. Me and Yinnie were to be in charge of the female's tent; whereas Jack, Yen, Wen Hong and Suhan at the male's one. Got bored after awhile. Jack and Yen were being themselves made noise in the other tent, I got bored and went out of the tent and was just in time to catch Yen saying to the fan "Yin Yee, are you okay?" while patting the fan. WTF?! Hahahaha. It's an inside joke.

Went back into the females' tent and heard more noise from the guys... Saw a pair of hand poking out underneath our tent zzz. Boys...

DSC02936

Yinnie was exhausted, not surprised, after all the travelling and waking up so bloody early for this event. We didn't even get much incentives out of it, and still getting treated one kind. The event manager actually kinda told us off for being late, not like it's our fault right? We came over to help and sacrificed our bloody SUNDAY! It's not what any people our age will do... I mean, okay fine, there's many volunteers that day who are our age, but do they even need to wake up as early as us and still have to go through all the stupid transports switching? AND the wastage of money on the transports!

Shrugs.

Went out and spent most of time watching the participants come and go while cheering them on... Took out my camera and there we go taking pictures :D That made us happy at least. Haha.

DSC02945

Me and Wen Hong :D

DSC02948

One of the first few to finished the 90.1km bike race and got the lead for the 21km run. Pro.

DSC02958
FWAH! Jack and Yen working eh!

DSC02943
Look at Jack's expression!
and
Look at where Yen's hand is located -__-"

DSC02950
Male ah? Sure boh?

DSC02988
Me - Suhan :D

DSC02981
The wheel can cost up RM15k!!! Professional athletes ma... Steal one and I can buy my iPhone, iPod Touch, PS3 Slim, PSP, Mizuno Motion Control shoes, new camera (neh, that baby blue Sony 12.1MP wan!!!)... Double of all those and I still have left overs!

Zzz. Dream on la...

DSC02990

Jack is a naughty boy! And he got a 365 days penalty at the penalty box.

While "working" at our stationed tents, we got to meet one of the referees for that event. Forgot to ask for his name but he is a dearie! Super awesome dude. I think he's from Germany. Accent super strong, took me awhile to get used to his accent. Haha. He's sooooo humourous too, kept asking us to study hard and eat more vegetable to be like those Ironmen and women one day. So cuteeee la. And very nice guy, took time to explain how these Ironman events work and told us almost in detailed the rules for Ironman.

And of course, we HAVE to take a picture with him! :D

DSC02999

This was supposedly be a formal shot. Stupid Yen, dunno what he's doing...

DSC03000
CANDID! :P

DSC03002
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ! Attention seeker ah. Lol.

DSC03003
The camera fell but managed to caught this shot :D Yea, it was on timer.

DSC03011
Me and Mr. Jaswant. Very nice dude :) Might consider helping out at the real Ironman event over in Langkawi if I've the time.

DSC03012
New friendssssss :)

DSC03010
Time flies when we are having fun :D Fun especially with those padang kakis around. All the participants finished their 90.1km biking and took off for their 21km run. So we cleared off the tents and left for the finish line to continue stoning...

DSC03022

While the rest were stoning at the participants enjoying their massage sessions, I went to check out the finish line with Wen Hong. Spent quite a loooong while there even though Yinnie all were kacau-ing if I'm done or not. No, of course I'm not done! I was checking out this cute dude with that bright orange yellowish cap, I think he's from Italy, and he's like one of the top 10 to finish the race man. Awesome, no?

Told ya I've good taste! Hahahahah!

Nope. No picture of him... =( I didn't wanna make it obvious -_-"

So after helping out holding the finish line tape thingy with Yinnie and touching the sweat of those participants... yuck, we went to get our lunch. Bloody hot la holding that for 1 hour plus under the damn hot sun. Luckily another two girls took over us. Gah. I think that's where I got my aweful sunburn... Oh well, at least we had a decent lunch, I quite enjoyed it and would like seconds... but I'm fat =( lolol

Event ended when all participants reached the ending point.

DSC02991

After a short chat with Mr Jaswant and Mr Amin, we went to the secretariate to collect our shirts (like finally!) and other goodies (not like they have plenty). Took quite awhile for them to "process" stuffs... we even made a Pringles "advertisment" out of Jack's RM10 Pringles during the wait. Click here to watch! Hahah! Anyway, got our stuffs in the end.

And after that, we were allowed to leave... And no, there's no transport allowance for us, and no transport for that matter as well.

Oh well, we proceeded to wait for the bus at the same spot the bus dropped us off. Waited for 1 hour plus but no bus came... had stupid fun playing with rocks and singing MJ songs and telling weird stories. But we still want to go home!!!!!!! I felt so bad already for dragging them into this. Shrugs.

Unexpected additional mission: Find our way back to Putrajaya Sentral on foot before the sun sets.

So the bus didn't come. So we decided to walk further down to see if there's any bus stopping anywhere near there. Turns out Putrajaya is like extremely deserted on Sundays. Bloody few cars, no buses, 1 or 2 cabs only (which we missed), no human beings other than us jakuns. Decided to walk to the town central to see if there's any bus there then. Asked for directions from a passing by police and that kinda signify the beginning of our unwanted adventure.

DSC03029

And we walked... walk walk walk walk walk walk...
Putrajaya is a beautiful place. We would like to stay and enjoy the view if we weren't stranded in that kind of situation. Zzz. But, seriously, Putrajaya is 101% a photographer's heaven!

DSC03031
DSC03033

Ooooo! TREE!

We were supposed to get to Precinct 7, according to the police officer, to get to Putrajaya Sentral. What he didn't tell us is... the distance from where we were then to Precinct 7 is seriously NOT walkable! And coming from a person who doesn't mind walking as a mean of travelling, it's something. Took us like 4 hours from the end of the event to get home! On foot!!! I'm not sure, but I think we kinda walked like 20,000 steps right? Or is it more than that? Ain't sure, but I vaguely remember that's the figure coming from Wen Hong's phone which has that awesome counting steps feature.

Jack and Yen made the journey less boring though...

a

There's pavements for us to walk on, but they just had to climb up the slopes... waste energy zzz

DSC03040

Presint 7 (terus maju!!!!)

Useless sign boards, got us walking in circles...

b
Yinnie called us the fly, the retard and the emo. Hahahah.

DSC03037
The road was sooooooooooo empty! NOT a single passing car!!! There's like practically no civilisation despite the modern buildings and all.

c
Kill us please.

Hahah. I was like running across the road yelling "EH! GOT CAR!" and both of them plus Yinnie got up and followed me across the road. HAHHAHAA! FUNNY!

d
Back to Square One.

Yea, we went one whole round. It hit us that we were REALLY LOST. Panic panic.

DSC03044
Asked a passerby and he gave directions, and we were back on track...

Walk walk walk walk walk walk...

DSC03045
Weather was pretty good. Luckily there's no rain!

DSC03041
Beautiful man-made lake

DSC03042
Windyyyyyyy~

Then, it started to turn dark. The view was awesome, but we didn't have the mood to enjoy it. We were super lost and there ain't any bus or stupid cab to stop.

e

Called someone up and got directions. Apparently we have to cross the huge bridge...

DSC03050
And we did.

DSC03052

Yen's phone was able to access Google Map, so we depended on it for the rest of our journey...

DSC03053

It was dark. Mission failed. We didn't made it before sun set. Current mission is to GET HOME!

My ankle hurts alot for the last hour walking. No choice. And I felt worse for bringing those peeps along.

Anyway, we went on and on and turned a corner and there it was! PUTRAJAYA SENTRAL!!!!!!!!

Like finallyyyyyyyyyyy! Yen was so touched he knelt and went "AHHHHHHHHHHHH UHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" like how he does when singing Earth Song; Jack went to hug a pole at the station and kissed it.

Toilet toilet. Water water. Got ourselves ready for the bus trip to Pasar Seni. But while walking around waiting for the bus, I found out that we could actually take a bus straight to Kelana Jaya LRT Station! Gees! The organisers told me to go through all the bus switching, wasted our energy, time and money. Seriously! I was super pissed at them then. Luckily I realised that there is actually a shorter route or we had to go through another long journey around the world with our money wasted. Shrugs.

DSC03062

Yen and I while waiting for the U43 bus at Putrajaya Sentral

Dumb dumb us spent those money of ours to waste our time and energy away by switching transports all! Argh. Stupid la, when we could have just take the bus straight to Putrajaya Sentral! Jees!

Ride was quite fast back to Kelana Jaya station. Was soooooo relieved, seriously. You couldn't imagine how we felt... unless you have experienced the exact same thing as we did la.

Thanks to Yinnie's dad for dropping me back home. Gah. I remember how exhausted I was after dinner and a quick bath. Hit the bed immediately soon after. Snore. Skipped yumchar session with the rest at Ming Tien. Can't believe they still have energy left to do that. Pro.

And these are what we got from volunteering for that event... Not much, but whatever la.

DSC03068

DSC03069

DSC03071

Oh by the way, this whole expedition was actually known by Mr Jaswant and that Mr. whatever (the volunteers manager). Mr. Jaswant apologized on behalf of the event organizers and said Mr. something will call me to talk on this matter too. Waited for weeks, no news from him. Forget it la. Don't expect much of him already. Though I don't think Mr. Jaswant is responsible for this, he's just too nice a man to take this matter into a part of his responsibilities as well.

Oh well, at least the experience was good. Though I wouldn't like to go through it again. Nah-uh!

Inglourious Basterds review

Got 2 premiere passes to Inglourious Basterds, thanks to Junk Online. Went with Aaron Cheah on the 20th October to Cathay Cineplex for the premiere. Ladeedaa~ Should have blog about this earlier, but... I know I procrastinate alot. Zzz.

Heard plenty about this movie, apparently it has pretty good reviews and ratings too! Plus, the posters are superb!!! These are a few of my faourites... I like the way they use the weapons used by the Basterds as a theme. They have many more though.

Nais, eh?

The movie was good! To me lar. Aaron didn't like it much =/ But he's an exception since he's those minority of males who dislike violence and prefers chick flicks -_-"

Oh welllllll..

So after Kill Bill 2, Quentin Tarantino finally hit us hard with another awesome movie... Inglourious Basterds probably will give everyone another view of World-War-Two movies. Having to rewrite a supposedly sadistic non-fiction of World War II, the director of Inglourious Basterds was ever so confident to mention that "This might just be my masterpiece." And indeed, it IS so obviously Quentin Tarantino's masterpiece.

Nastily violent and undoubtedly funny, the movie successfully created gasps and laughters in the cinema. May be annoying with all those noises around la to CERTAIN people, ahem (not me, I don't REALLY mind, don't push it though dears). Still, that kinda shows how the audience enjoyed the experience :)

I, for one, couldn't help giggling about the same scene even that scene was like an hour back. Great impact lar.

Inglourious Basterds was done with the whole film divided into 5 chapters. Story's about revenge from the Jews towards the Nazis. First chapter so clearly stated how the Nazis despise the Jews, adding in the reason of the hatred: there's no reason, they just find them disgusting.

Hans Landa, an annoyingly clever Nazi colonel (played by Christoph Waltz), made that above statement and from the interrogation with a farmer in the beginning of the whole movie, he then found the hiding Jews and killed the whole family. One young lady, however, escaped and was let go by Landa. He probably doubted she will be of any threat.

Years later, the Basterds are introduced, led by Aldo the Apache (Brad Pitt "woohooo!"). These Jewish Nazis-killing heroes are super funny I tell you... apart from being cruel and violent la. Loving the part when Aldo and his two Basterds sidekicks, one of them being known as the famous "Bear Jew" (LOL!) sneaking into a cinema filled with Nazis during a premiere of a propaganda movie, named "Nation's Pride". Little did they know that there will be another revenge against the Nazis planned, other than theirs that is.

Oh oh! I love the scene of that picture above too! Hahahah. Something to do with King Kong. Watch it yourself and get a good laugh. Haha. And and, don't miss out the part when they were planning about using covers of Italian actors! That bit was funny too. Thinking of it makes me laugh. Haha.

So yadda yadda yadda. The Jews got their revenge, followed by a few deaths of their own. Awesome killing scenes, I'm not much into violence as well, but the effects are awesome, really.

And, oh, not forgetting what happened to the reason some ladies will be watching this movie (ahem, Brad Pitt), Landa thought he outsmarted the Basterds, and in is fantasies of having a good future, Aldo smashed his dreams, nope, not by killing him... Aldo has much better plans for him... Awesome ending by the way. I mean, at least I laughed about it xD

"I think this might just be my masterpiece" :)

Would like to add that I extremely love their accent!!! Super awesome, can? :D

8.5/10 for this. Really a good one, despite the violence, though I think it's still acceptable for me. Not really gruesome or what la. However, even with the few censorships (it's Malaysia la ish, kinda annoying la for the skipping of some parts), the movie is still quite long. Still, it was enjoyable nevertheless. I don't mind watching this movie again, really.

Flickr is treating me well! :D Faster uploads and better picture quality on my blog now. Awesome leh.

Anyway, am stoning now in the library... thank goodness for fast internet speed here.

Shrugs... basketball training in 20 minutes. Don't feel like going la... don't enjoy practices anymore. Really demotivated in sports now. Sien. Am like forcing myself to do sports d now... zzz.

And assignments are piling up like mad. Sien. I need to start laaaaaaa. 3 more weeks to due date and I am still procrastinating. Fuck it. I have no idea what's getting into me recently.

Don't feel like blogging too lar. Ish. Shall finish 2 drafts tonight.

Gotta leave for basketball training now...
